Notice of Intended Action
Proposing rulemaking related to emergency information system on pesticides
and providing an opportunity for public comment
The Department of Health and Human Services hereby proposes to rescind Chapter 71, “Emergency Information System on Pesticides for Use by Health Care Providers During Medical Emergencies,” Iowa Administrative Code.
Legal Authority for Rulemaking
This rulemaking is proposed under the authority provided in Iowa Code section 139A.21.

This rulemaking implements, in whole or in part, Iowa Code section 139A.21.
Purpose and Summary
Chapter 71 was reviewed and is proposed to be rescinded as part of the Red Tape Review process established by 2023 Executive Order 10. These rules were intended to establish an emergency information system for pesticides that Iowa health care providers are able to access 24/7 in order to gain access to emergency treatment information for the emergency care of a real-time human exposure to a pesticide.
